The Early Development of Photography

Photography in its modern form started in the early 19th century, but its history stretches back centuries. The earliest experiments were with the camera obscura, a primitive device that cast an image on a surface by allowing a small amount of light to pass through a pinhole. Artists sketched with it, but it was not photography, there was no way of fixing the image onto a surface.

The innovation came when camera obscura was combined with light-sensitive chemicals. Between 1826 and 1827, French inventor Joseph Nicéphore Niépce produced the first known photograph, a view from out his window by using a process called heliography, which took hours to expose. Louis Daguerre developed Niépce’s idea and produced the daguerreotype in 1839, creating clear, well-defined images on a sheet of silver-plated copper. The invention is the official birth of photography.

Having been inspired by these pioneers, we at Memoire Photography are reminded that great photographs are built on patience, precision, and the work ethic of innovation and principles we apply to every corporate photoshooting session today.

Technological Developments during the 19th and 20th Centuries

After the daguerreotype, photography developed rapidly. In the 1840s,the calotype was invented, on silver iodide-coated paper. This is how the photographic negative was invented, with the ability to produce multiple prints from a single exposure—a method still used today.

George Eastman’s Kodak camera, which made roll film and mobile cameras available for the masses in the 1880s, changed the face of photography. Photography was no longer the exclusive domain of professionals; anyone could now freeze moments in life. Black-and-white photographs led to colour photography by the 20th century, and innovations such as the Polaroid instant camera made it even easier to take and distribute photographs.

We at Memoire Photography pay this heritage tribute by combining old photographic craftsmanship with new digital technology. To our customers who desire the finest corporate photoshoot, we provide each picture with the technical expertise passed down the centuries and the clarity and speed today’s digital era demands.

The Shift Towards Digital PhotographyCorporate Photoshooting

One of the greatest breaks in the history of photography is the shift from film to digital. In the 1970s and 1980s, the first digital sensors were invented, and in the 1990s the first commercially available digital cameras were on the market. Suddenly, the photographer could view the images instantly, edit digitally, and carry around thousands of photographs without film.

Digital photography has been the bedrock of all our corporate photoshooting sessions at Memoire Photography. Combined with the latest DSLR and mirrorless cameras and advanced editing software, digital technology allows us to fine-tune every photograph to perfection so our clients can be confident they will be receiving the sophisticated, professional sheen they need from Singapore’s leading corporate photoshoot agency.

Photography Today: AI and Innovation

Photography has not ceased to evolve. The advent of smartphones made everyone a photographer, but it’s the use of AI which is taking to the next level. Cameras now even auto-correct exposure, detect faces, and even retouch pictures in an instant.

But no matter how smart technology becomes, there’s no replacement for the human touch. Memoire Photography uses the finest technology available and combines it with our vision and expertise to yield the kind of corporate photoshooting result that automatic systems can only dream about. We know how to deal with groups and individuals, direct light, and get real smiles out of them to make a company’s image pop.
